Under The Oaks
(released in 2003)
Seven Songs of the California Oak Woodland
These original Native American Flute compositions, performed and produced by eco-musician Jon Sherman, are a celebration of seven bird species found within the natural community of the oak woodlands of California. Though this habitat, in terms of bird richness, is among the most important in North America, it is also one of most threatened. May these songs, which include the authentic vocalizations of Red Tailed Hawk, Acorn Woodpecker, American Robin, Anna's Hummingbird, Bewick's Wren, Canyon Wren and Hermit Thrush, inspire communion with the oak woodland community and its circle of life, represented by the stone circle in the beautiful cover art by Fealing Lin.
May they also inspire the peace and healing that time spent under the oaks can bring.
