A symbol
of
peace since ancient times, the olive branch lends
its
spirit and
cultural significance to this very special Peace
Flute.
Measuring 21" in length, this high quality
concert/recording
flute, is sweetly and soulfully voiced to a Gm
( A=440 ) pentatonic scale, modes 1 & 4, playing
three upper
register
notes. As
with
all Drayd Flutes, the air
and sound chambers have been bored out intact,
allowing the natural
strength and deep meaning of the tree's growth rings
to remain
unbroken. The
bark, at the knot
holes, has been sanded down in colorful and textural
patterns contrasting with the finely finished
wood grain. Jade,
a stone
that promotes inner peace and calmness, has been
inlaid into 21 knots
of this olive branch flute. Deer leather
lacing
with jade and brass beads secures the
bird to her nest. To help prevent wetout, the
bird has been
fitted with a cedar shoe, and a drain hole, covered
by the lacing, has
been designed into the air chamber.
The branch for
this flute was gathered in a sustainable manner,
with respect and
gratitude to the tree and her natural community,
from an abandoned
olive grove within the San Marcos Creek
watershed of California.
