A symbol of peace since ancient times, the wonderful olive branch lends its spirit and cultural significance to this very special Peace Flute.   A high quality concert or recording flute, it is sweetly and soulfully voiced to a Gm ( A=440 ) pentatonic scale, modes 1 & 4, playing three upper register notes.  With all of the bark left on the air and sound chambers have been bored out intact, allowing the natural strength and deep meaning of the tree's growth rings to remain unbroken.  This beautiful olive tree branch flute measures 20" in length and, because of the high density of olive wood, weighs in at 1.2 lbs--fairly heavy for its size.  Each knot has been inlaid with green turquoise.  Deer leather lacing with green turquoise nuggets and gold plated beads secures the bird to its nest.  To help prevent wetout, the bird has been fitted with a cedar shoe, and a drain hole, covered by the lacing, has been designed into the air chamber.  The branch for this flute was gathered sustainably with respect and gratitude  from an abandoned olive grove within the San Marcos Creek watershed of California.
