Measuring 18" in length, with four direction/tuning holes, this unsplit California Walnut branch flute has been clearly and sweetly voiced to a 6-hole, mode 1 & 4, high C minor pentatonic scale, playing three upper register notes. The bark has been left on, well sealed to prevent separation from the wood, bark fissures and knot holes inlaid with crushed Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. To help prevent wet-out, the bird has been fitted with a cedar shoe, for its absorption qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the air chamber. Deer leather lacing with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and Brass beads secures the bird to its nest, while covering the drain hole. The branch for this flute was sustainably gathered, with respect and gratitude, within the San Marcos Creek watershed of California.
