Crushed turquoise has been inlaid into all the knot holes as well as into the large pith of the bird. To aid against wet-out the bird has been fitted with a redwood heartwood shoe, for its absorption qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the air chamber. Deer lacing with turquoise and brass beads holds the bird to the nest. The branch for this flute was sustainably gathered, with prayer and gratitude, along the San Marcos Creek watershed of California.
