Measuring 24" in length, this 6 holed, unsplit California Sycamore (Plantinus racemosa) branch flute is clearly and soulfully voiced to a resonant Fm pentatonic scale, playing 3 in-tune upper octave notes.  Much of the beautiful bark has been left on and well sealed to insure its continued adherence to the wood.  A few small knots have been inlaid with crushed malachite stone.  Elk lacing secures the bird to its nest,  also covering the fourth tone hole up.  To help prevent wetout, the bird has been fitted with a redwood shoe and a drain hole, covered by the lacing,  has been designed into the air chamber.
