English
Walnut
(Juglans
regia) branch
flute has been accurately tuned and clearly voiced to a 6 holed
mid-range G#
minor
pentatonic scale, playing 4 upper octave notes.
Most of the bark has been left on, taken down at the 5th and
6th tone holes to decrease the wall thickness there, for better tuning
and responsiveness.
Bark fissures and knot holes have been inlayed with
crushed Turquoise and the whole branch has been finely
finished
and sealed, insuring that the bark will remain tight to the wood grain
over the long life of this beautiful flute. To
help prevent wet-out, the bird
has been fitted with a redwood shoe, for its absorption
qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the air
chamber. Deer lacing with Turquoise and carved bone beads
secures the bird to the nest. The branch
for this flute was sustainably gathered, with prayer, respect and
gratitude, within the San Marcos Creek watershed of California.
