The
bark has been left on this 6 holed unsplit Elderberry branch
flute, well sealed with a non-toxic finish to insure that it
will never
separate during the life of the flute. Measuring
20 1/4" in
length, with four tuning/direction holes, it is voiced with a clear,
sweet and soulful sound, and concert tuned to a mid range A minor
pentatonic scale, playing
3
upper register
notes. To
aid against
wet-out the bird
has been fitted with a redwood shoe, for its absorption
qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the air
chamber. Deer leather lacing with Sleeping Beauty turquoise and
Horn-bone
beads secures
the
bird to its nest. The branch for this flute was gathered
sustainably, with respect and gratitude, within the San
Mateo Creek watershed of Southern California.
