this 6 holed
unsplit Olive branch
flute, (Olea
europaea), contrasting
nicely with the
finely finished wood
grain. Measuring
21 1/8" in length, with four
tuning/direction holes, this
flute
is brightly and sweetly tuned to a G#
minor
pentatonic scale, modes 1 & 4, playing three
upper octave notes. Knot holes
have been
inlaid with crushed malachite. Deer
lacing
with malachite and brass beads
holds
the
bird to the nest, the bird fitted with a redwood
shoe to aid against
wetout. The
branch for this flute was gathered from an abandoned
olive grove that
grows along San Marcos Creek, in San Marcos,
CA.
