Measuring
20"
in
length,
this
unsplit
Jacaranda
branch
flute
has
been
accurately tuned with a clear, bright and sweet voice,
to a 6 holed G
minor
pentatonic scale, playing three upper octave
notes. Some of the
bark has
been left on, a nice visual and tactile contrast to the
colors of the exposed and finely finished wood grain. A
few wood
crevices and knots have been inlaid with crushed
turquoise stone. To
aid against
wet-out (the
build-up of
breath condensation that can clog the windway of the
flute) the bird
has been fitted with a redwood heartwood shoe, for its
absorption
qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the
air
chamber. Elk lacing with turquoise nuggets and
brass beads
holds the bird to the nest.
