English Walnut trees along San Marcos Creek where the branch for this flute was gathered.
Much of the bark has
been left on
this unsplit English Walnut (Juglans
regia) branch
flute, sanded down to a fine finish at the tone holes to
decrease the
thickness there, the bark fissures inlaid with crushed
turquoise.
Measuring 14 3/4" in
length, with 4
tuning holes, it has been accurately tuned to a 6 holed
A#
minor
pentatonic with a cheerfully bright and
sweet voice, playing 3
upper octave notes. Elk lacing
with horn bone and turquoise beads holds the bird to the
nest, the
bird
fitted
with
a
redwood
shoe
to
aid
against
wetout. The branch
for this flute was sustainably gathered, with love,
respect and
gratitude,
along San Marcos Creek, in San Diego County, CA amongst a wild grove of English Walnut trees.
