Most of the bark has been preserved on this Chinese Elm branch flute ( Ulmus parvifolia ), as well as on it's accompanying stand, made from the same tree. The flute measures 13" in length and is precisely tuned to a clear, sweet, high D# minor pentatonic scale, modes 1 & 4, playing four upper octave notes as well as the gypsy scale. There is a very nice, controllable warble on this flute, as heard in the sound sample. Elk lacing with brass and horn bone beads holds the bird to the nest, the bird fitted with a redwood shoe to aid against wetout.
