California Peppertree Branch Flute in F#

Most of the smooth, dark brown underlayer of bark has been left on this unsplit California Peppertree
(Schinus molle) branch flute creating a nice contrast with the exposed grain.  The whole flute has
been finely finished to a warm sheen.
Measuring 20 1/2" in length and concert tuned to an F#
minor pentatonic, modes 1 & 4, it plays 2 upper octave notes as well as the Gypsy scale.
The small knot holes have been inlaid with crushed malachite stone.  Deer lacing
with malachite and horn bone beads holds the bird to the nest and the bird wears a
California Redwood shoe to help prevent wet-out.
